Draft for attorney review. This document is not legal advice and has not been approved by counsel.

01Information You Provide

Depending on how you use Unbound, the information you provide may include:

  • Email address and account credentials
  • Display name, date of birth, and age
  • Gender
  • Relationship status and relationship style
  • Biography and connection interests
  • Discovery preferences and audience/privacy preferences
  • Profile photos and private photos
  • Connection requests and messages
  • Photos or short videos shared in conversations
  • Reports you submit to Unbound
  • Information submitted during verification

Relationship status and relationship style are self-declared by members. Unbound does not verify or present them as verified facts.

02Verification Information

Unbound uses verification processes before members receive full access. These may include:

  • Email verification
  • Phone verification
  • Identity verification
  • Age verification
  • Liveness verification
  • Profile-photo verification
  • Location verification

Where third-party verification providers are used, they may process the information necessary to perform verification on our behalf.

Our internal security records are designed to store event codes, scores, sources, and timestamps — not face templates or raw verification-provider payloads. Biometric comparison, where offered, depends on a configured verification provider, and this policy will be updated to describe any such provider when one is in use.

03Location Information

Unbound may temporarily process your device's GPS coordinates for location verification.

Your exact latitude and longitude are not intended to be displayed to other members. Discovery uses coarse location information and approximate distance. Approximate distance does not represent anyone's exact location.

Location verification may identify signals such as:

  • VPN use
  • Proxy use
  • Timezone mismatch
  • Device-region mismatch
  • Location inconsistency
  • Impossible travel

04Device and Security Information

To keep accounts and the community secure, Unbound may process:

  • Device and session identifiers
  • Platform and app version
  • Login, session, and authentication activity
  • Security and abuse signals, including risk events
  • Rate-limit information
  • Approximate network information where necessary for security

Device identifiers are used internally and are not visible to other members. We use security signals to detect suspicious activity, compromised sessions, verification issues, and abuse.

05How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide the service and create and maintain accounts
  • Perform verification
  • Show appropriate discovery results and enforce audience preferences
  • Enable connections and conversations
  • Maintain privacy controls
  • Prevent fraud and abuse, investigate reports, and moderate the community
  • Secure accounts and improve reliability
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Communicate important service information

Unbound does not sell your personal information.

Analytics and marketing

[ANALYTICS / MARKETING PROVIDERS AND PRACTICES — TO BE COMPLETED WHEN SELECTED]
This section will describe any analytics or marketing tools once they are chosen. No such practices are described here until they are established.

06Discovery and Audience Preferences

Unbound lets you set two kinds of preferences:

  • Browsing preferences — who you would like to discover.
  • Audience preferences — who may discover or contact you.

Together, these settings help determine who is eligible to appear in discovery. Your audience preferences are private and are not displayed as part of your public profile.

07Profile Visibility

You can control your profile's visibility and remove your profile from discovery.

You can also hide another member from your discovery. A hide is designed to be quiet and does not notify the other member. Blocking is different: it restricts interaction between both members.

08Photos and Private Photos

Photos may have different visibility settings. Depending on product settings, a photo may be public, blurred, or private.

Private photos are not generally displayed publicly. You may intentionally grant an eligible connected member access to your private photos. Ending a connection removes that member's private-photo access.

09Messages and Media

Connected members may exchange text, photos, and short videos. Messages may include read status.

You may be able to remove a message from your own view. A sender may also unsend a message, which removes its content and attachments for both participants while retaining limited system information needed to show that a message was unsent.

10Safety, Reports, and Moderation

You can report other members. A report may include a category and an optional description. Reports are not shown to the reported member through ordinary app functionality.

Authorized moderators may review reports and take actions such as:

  • Requiring re-verification
  • Suspending accounts
  • Removing accounts
  • Addressing profile-photo issues

11How Information Is Shared

We may share information:

  • With other members, according to product functionality and your privacy settings
  • With service providers that help us operate Unbound
  • With verification providers
  • With infrastructure and storage providers
  • With security providers
  • When required for legal or compliance reasons
  • In connection with a corporate transaction, if applicable

Your private discovery and audience preferences, and our internal security and risk signals, are not public profile information.

12Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, meet safety and security obligations, resolve disputes, and satisfy legal obligations.

Account deletion begins with a soft-deletion period. Under current product configuration, deleted accounts have a default retention period of approximately 30 days, after which eligible relational records and profile and conversation media are scheduled for permanent deletion.

Risk and security events may be retained longer for safety and fraud prevention — currently up to 365 days by default.

Retention periods may change based on operational and legal requirements. The final published policy will reflect production configuration.

13Account Choices

You have controls including: pause, resume, deactivate, reactivate where eligible, delete account, hide profile, presence control, photo privacy, discovery preferences, audience preferences, block, and report.

  • Pause — temporarily step away. You can resume whenever you like.
  • Deactivate — take your account offline for a longer period. You may be able to reactivate where eligible.
  • Delete — begin the process of permanently closing your account (see below).

14Account Deletion

Deleting your account begins an account deletion process. It is not necessarily an instantaneous physical erasure from every system.

Certain information may temporarily remain during a retention period, or where required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or other legitimate obligations.

15Security

Unbound uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect your information. No digital system can guarantee absolute security, and we cannot promise that information will never be accessed without authorization.

16Age Requirement

Unbound is intended only for adults 18 years of age or older. Underage accounts are prohibited.

17U.S. State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable U.S. state privacy laws, which may include the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete personal information
  • Exercise other rights provided by applicable law

To make a request, contact [PRIVACY EMAIL]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

[APPLICABLE STATE LAWS AND REQUEST PROCESS — TO BE CONFIRMED BY COUNSEL]

18International Users

If you access Unbound from outside the jurisdiction where we operate, your information may be processed in countries where Unbound and its service providers operate, which may have different data protection rules than your own.

19Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will communicate them appropriately, such as through the app or by updating the date above.
